The teaching of epistemology and strategies of approach to the classroom

Abstract

It’s considered that knowledge about the nature of science is one of the fundamental components of general scientific literacy. This leads to the need to introduce the epistemological study in education for higher education. In this case, we will focus on the understanding of the different epistemological positions of twentieth century. In the first instance a characterization of  four important epistemological positions of the moment: logical positivism or logical empiricism, critical rationalism, pragmatism and realism hypothetical. Recovering some of its main representatives, marking the differences with respect to the process of science, truth and the method of discovery for each of them, seeking in this way to understand and contrast the different postulates that each of these currents present. Culminating with the presentation some teaching proposals of the epistemology that can be useful for the understanding of the theory regarding the different currents worked.
