The woman in the socioeconomic conflicts in the Norpatagonia: a look from the teaching of the regional history

Abstract

The regional issue has been a field of disputes and epistemological and methodological debates, both from history and from geography. Today we could argue that it has consolidated as a field of knowledge production that has changed the way of understanding the historical processes in our country: from local / regional to national / global in close relationship. It is also an absent perspective in the teaching of history in secondary school, at least in the provinces of Río Negro and Neuquén. Generally the region of the Norpatagonia is taught within the framework of the historical processes initiated in Buenos Aires, with an imprint of the national history. The Norpatagonia has its own social, political, economic and productive characteristics that give it an identity as a region, in the context of the Argentine and world territory. One of the activities that has generated conflicts has been fruit growing, deepened since the implementation of neoliberal policies during the decade of the 1990s. Within this framework, a scenario of mobilization and social protest has been set up, in which the struggle of women has a leading role that has been made invisible by some historiographical stories. In this paper we will present a case: the struggle of women in the Alto Valle fruit region, with the intention that it be introduced into the teaching of history in a way that makes it possible to think about history from the invisible ones. For them, without ignoring the important production of regional history in our country, we will take as reference historians and historians of our region: Patagonia Argentina and, in particular, the contributions of one of its referents: the historian Susana Bandieri.
